The Canadian Grain Commission (CGC) continues to release updated information in its Harvest Quality Report of Canada Western Red Spring Wheat every Tuesday. To date in Manitoba, 39% of the samples analyzed are grading in the top two grades, holding constant from the November 4th report (see Tables 1 and 2). Overall average protein content remains at 13.5%. According to the CGC, mildew is the most common downgrading factor in spring wheat this year.

- Results are unlikely to represent samples harvested within two weeks of the date of this report (September 30th).
- Protein content is determined by near-infrared measurements calibrated against the Combustion Nitrogen Analysis reference method and is expressed on an N x 5.7, 13.5% moisture basis.
Bruce Burnett of the CWB spoke at the CropTalk Westman webinar on October 1st where he presented the following graph showing long term CWRS quality in Western Canada. In 2014, about 75% of the crop was in the top two grades.
